Chip Kidd’s favourite book covers over at Newsweek. A damn fine selection it is too, including Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid On Earth and A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius, both of which would make it onto my own list, should Newsweek ever bother to contact me.

Which is surely only a matter of time.

Typeface Cheltenham has a pair of very sexy Gs.

Khoi Vinh mentioned it recently on his fantastic blog Subtraction, exploring the depth of research and thought that went into its use in the film Doubt (and how it was undermined by the DVD opting for the cliched Trajan). I wish there was that much meaning behind all of my type choices.

Not sure I’ve mentione this before, but I am very excited about Moon. Excited in a it-can-never-live-up-to-my-expectations-so-I’m-doomed-to-dissapintment kind of way. io9 have a fairly thourough review. Of course, they also claimed that Transfomers: My Eyes My Eyes was a “brilliant art movie about the illusory nature of plot”.

I went to the EDO talk the other day, all about magazine design. At the end, all of the speakers were asked for their favourite British magazine and most of them threw 032c into the hat. For some reason, I’ve never bought this before, but I’ve always admired it from afar. And now I want a closer look.

And this is where the problem arises. I’ve asked Dr B, who is out shopping with her parents, to get it for me. Stupid stupid stupid.

Look at it. I know it’s arty and designular, you know it’s arty and designular, but quite frankly I might as well have asked my girlfriend’s mum to get me a copy of Hustler.
